Albert Career School is authorized under Federal Law to enroll non immigrant alien students.

Transfer Students

Current F1 students attending classes at a United States school and requesting a transfer to Albert Career School should follow the following procedures:

Submit:

Procedure

  • Albert will issue an acceptance letter and send the letter and Transfer form to the student’s current school.
  • The student’s current school will complete the bottom portion of the transfer form and email it back to Albert.  Also, they will electronically transfer the student’s SEVIS record to Albert Career School.
  • Based on student’s start date Albert Career School will contact student to come to school to register for class and to take a level placement test.  This test will determine the class level the student will be placed in.
  • An I-20 will be issued

Applicants currently in the US requiring a Change of Status

Immigrants currently in The United States with certain immigration classifications may request that their VISA status be changed to F1 Student VISA. This process does not require a departure from the United States. USCIS reviews applications for Change of Status based on the applicant’s ability to document and justify a change of intent after arriving in the US. No one can guarantee your VISA status will be approved. This decision is solely up to the discretion of The USCIS Adjudicator.

It is best that you obtain a professional to assist you with this process. Albert Career School has been successfully helping students change their status for 20 years. Your Albert representative will guide you through the process.

**During this process if you move, you must notify Albert and USCIS (on line) of your new address**
**Processing Times

  • USCIS processing times vary, it can take from 3-9 months to be notified of the outcome of your application.
  • To review current processing times and your pending case status visit USCIS Case Status Service online. Albert will not be able to provide you with a status of your case.

Submit:

** Prospective F1 students must have the financial resource to live & study in the US.

  • Student self sponsor – Submit 3 months bank statements indicating sufficient funds. Contact Admissions Rep for alternative documents
  • Friend/Relative Sponsor – Complete USCIS I-134 Declaration of Financial Support. Refer to the instructions indicating the documentation USCIS requires of your sponsor. I-134 Declaration of Financial Support (if using sponsor) https://www.uscis.gov/i-134

Procedure
Albert will give the I-20 form directly to the applicant if the Change of Status process is being completed independently.
Albert is assigned to complete the Change of Status by the applicant, all forms & payments will be submitted to USCIS by Albert.

  • USCIS communicates directly with the applicant, Albert receives no information.
  • Applicant will receive USCIS Form I-797 indicating the Change of Request was received.
  • If USCIS requires more information they will send an I-797E Notice of Action form stating the additional documents that are needed. If applicant needs assistance or documents from Albert they must request it as soon as they receive the USCIS request.
  • USCIS sends approval or denial directly to applicant.
  • Applicant must email Albert all USCIS Notice of Action from USCIS
  • Once approved arrangements will be made to schedule testing and registration

Applicants applying outside of the US

Albert welcomes prospective students residing in their home country that would like to attend English classes in the United States. F1 VISAs are issued at the US Embassy in your country.  First step is to apply at a US SEVIS certified school.  Once accepted Albert will issue an I-20 form which can be presented at the Embassy as proof that you have been accepted at a US school.

Procedure

  • Apply to Albert by submitting the above documents.
  • Albert will issue I-20 and acceptance letter
  • Prospective student will pay I-901 SEVIS fee on line & retain the receipt
  • Contact US Embassy and make appointment to apply for VISA. Determine the documents that you need to bring. https://www.usembassy.gov/

Be ready for your VISA interview

  • Consider the Embassy interview as a formal event & dress appropriately
  • Be prepared to answer questions like:
    • Why do you need to go to the US to study English?
    • Why did you choose to attend school in Philadelphia?
    • Listen carefully to the questions the embassy official asks.  The official is usually trying to decide whether the applicant intends to stay in the US after they complete the ESL program.  If the official thinks you plan on staying in the US or have any close relatives in the US, they could refuse your VISA.
  • Contact Albert when you receive the decision & tell us your arrival date.
  • You may enter the US 30 days before the start of classes
  • Report to Albert 15 days prior to class start at which time you will register for classes.
  • When you register you must present a copy of your VISA and pay tuition,
  • You will be scheduled for a placement test to determine the ESL leveled class you will be placed in.
  • Your first week of class you will attend New Student Orientation
  • All students have the right to request a change of class level.

Albert defines Domestic Students as American Citizens, Naturalized Citizens, Permanent Residents, Refugees, or Asylees.  Applicant will provide documentation that they qualify as a domestic student.

Submit:

  • Albert Program Application
  • Cover letter indicating goals applicant would like to achieve as a result of English language classes
  • Admission Fee $50
  • Tuition (Due 14 days before start of classes)

USCIS regulations regarding F2 dependents and eligibility to attend schools.

  • A F-2 spouse may engage in study at an SEVP-certified school in the United States as long as they are enrolled in less than a full course of study. The F-2 spouse may still engage in study that is merely avocational or recreational in nature. To engage in a full course of study, an F-2 spouse must apply for and be granted F-1, M-1, or J-1 status.
  • An F-2 child may engage in full-time study in any elementary or secondary school (K-12).
  • An F-2 child may engage in study at an SEVP-certified school in the United States as long as they are enrolled in less than a full course of study at the post-secondary level.
  • An F-2 child may also engage in recreational or avocational study. To study full-time at the post-secondary level, the child must apply for and be granted F-1, M-1, or J-1 status.

  • VISA, Passport, I-94 for students & all dependents All I-20 form from prior schools
  • Enrollment Agreement (pdf)
  • $300 Application fee

Procedure:
-Albert will issue an acceptance letter and send the letter and Transfer form to the students current school.
-The student’s current school will complete the bottom portion of the Transfer In form and email it   back to Albert.  Also, they will electronically transfer the student’s SEVIS record to Albert Career School.
-Based on Students start date Albert Career School will contact student to come to school to register for class and to take a level placement test.  This test will determine the class level you will be placed to begin classes at Albert.
-A new I-20 will be issued at that time.
